Dayton Hamvention 2008

May 16-18

I had my first trip to Dayton, Ohio for their annual Hamvention this year.
After being invited to go along with my brother in law Steve VE3PIP and
some of his other hams friends I decided to fly to Toronto and go along
with them. Thanks to Dave VE3SLM for doing all the planning and organizing
of our trip. I had a fantastic time with a great group of hams.

I found a few good deals on some accessories for the FT897D I purchased
in late April. As well a few miss connectors etc

During the 2 days we were on site I managed to walk around all the areas
at least once. Some areas I got to twice. I managed to attend the APRS
seminar. As there was so much to see I did not get time to attend any more.
All of our group took an HT and we kept in touch on simplex. There were
often calls for everyone to look for something one of us wanted or if someone
found an item that someone was looking for.

On Saturday morning I was able to call home via IRLP and chat with the folks from my club as they were going to our weekly brunch. Eric VE3OIC is looking for bargains behind me.

I took lots of pictures while roaming around the Hamvention. As you will see
there were lots of  vendors displaying their equipment. As well there were lots
of bargains to be had at the outdoor Flea Market.
